The Rookery offers a variety of programs for adults. Whether you are looking to be more physically active, or socialize over a game of cards, the Rookery has many great options for you.

ADULT BEGINNER PICKLEBALL
Monday Session: Mon., April 3 - May 8 | 5:30pm - 7:00pm | 19+ years
Tuesday Session: Tues., April 4 - May 9 | 5:30pm - 7:00pm | 19+ years
Catch the newest sports craze: Pickleball! Learn the basics of the game from an experienced instructor and practice skills in this 6 session series for pickleball newcomers. This is a great chance to learn the game in a no-pressure atmosphere with guidance and instruction. All equipment is provided.

PICKLEBALL SKILLS & DRILLS

This 4-week pickleball skills and drills program will help you improve your pickleball game. You will learn and practice a variety of skills and drills to improve your game which will include serve and return, how to plan your 3rd shot, navigate the kitchen, work your forehand and backhand movements, and perform wall drills. Individuals registering for this program must already know the basics of the game. This is not a learn how to play pickleball program.

BAG TOSS LEAGUE

The classic tailgating game comes to The Rookery! Join us for a bean bag toss league. Satisfy that competitive side as well as your social side as you play with new and old friends in this easy and fun backyard game. Register as pairs. T-shirts for the winners!

Pop on over to The Rookery Activity Center for some Popcorn and catching up. Learn about what new and exciting things we have planned for the Winter/Spring and catch up with old friends. Get a discount on your auto insurance by taking AARP’s “Smart Driver” class. An auto insurance discount can be obtained by those 50 older after taking the 4-hour refresher course that is needed every three years. You must have completed the 8 hours course to be eligible for the 4-hour refresher course. AARP members are eligible for a discounted rate; but an AARP membership is not required. AARP members will be required to provide their membership number at time of registration.

BINGO with a Purpose

Join Us for BINGO with a Purpose! On April 13th at 1 pm. Come and find out about violence against older adults, financial exploitation, resources, safety planning and services offered by Alexandra House while playing bingo and winning prizes. What you learn could help yourself or some you care about, as violence impacts one in 10 older adults. This program is Free but registration is required. This Class is put on in partnership with Centennial Community Education. Come win some great prizes with us!

Extended Travel Informational Class

Take the worry out of travel by signing up for a guided trip through Landmark Tours. Trips typically include flights, luxury motor coach transportation on tours, a knowledgeable tour guide, three-star hotel accommodations (or better) and several meals. Come learn about the upcoming trips that are being offered.

Day Trips: We are pleased to offer day trips for our active adults with some of them in collaboration with the City of Blaine, and Centennial Community Education. On these trips, luxury coach transportation is provided as well as an escort for each trip. Please see each trip description for more details. Registration deadlines for each trip is one month before the trip date.
THE AMERICAN SWEDISH INSTITUTE AND BACHMAN'S

Join us for a trip to the American Swedish Institute. We’ll have a guided tour of the museum and explore all of their current exhibits. We will also move to the Turnblad Mansion where we will get the unique experience to see and learn about all its history and why it is often called the “castle.” After all of our exploring and hearing amazing stories we will then jump back on the bus and head to Bachman’s on Lyndale for lunch and shopping. INCIDENT AT OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP PERFORMANCE AT THE MASONIC HERITAGE CENTER

Let’s head to the Masonic Heritage Center! We will receive a guided tour of the center and have time to self-explore the amazing exhibits. Lunch will be severed at the theater. After lunch, we will take a trip back to 1973 with the Irish Catholic O’Shea family in the uproarious INCIDENT AT OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP at the Masonic Theater. Registration includes transportation in a motor coach, guided tour, lunch and tickets to the show. Please note: Standing and walking is required.

Chankaska Creek Ranch and Winery
Thursday, May 25 | 9:30am - 4:45pm | 18+ years
Jump on the bus and head to the Chankaska Creek Ranch and Winery in Kasota MN. We will stop in St. Peters and have lunch at 3rd Street Tavern. Lunch choices will be Fresh Alaskan Cod, Beer Battered with French Fries, Coleslaw and tarter sauce or Slow Smoked Pulled Pork Shoulder sandwich topped with Coleslaw and served with French Fries. Coffee and water will also be included with both meals. Once we have completed lunch, we will head to the Chankaska Creek Ranch and Winery where will be able to walk the ground and see sculptures which welcome us. Embedded deep within the earth and soul of this natural landscape, handcrafted wines and artisan techniques capture the transformative journey form vie to table. We enjoy a tour of the property (staying close to the winery) and on the production floor to learn how their wines are made. Our tour will include seeing the vines that produce the amazing grapes, tasting on the patio and seeing the barrel room distillery. After our tour is we will have some time to explore the winery and make personal purchase. Registration includes transportation in a motor coach, guided tour, lunch and wine tasting. Barn Quilt Tour and Lunch

Join us for a Barn Quilt tour of Carver County. The tour is approximately 5 hours with 1 hour for lunch. We are taking a tour route called the Thimble Tour. This tour will have between 7 and 9 stops. Some are just viewing stops while others you will be able to get off the bus. It is a tight schedule so stops will be quick. There is a bathroom stop scheduled as well. The tour guide will provide narration throughout the trip. We will stop at Unhinged Pizza in Waconia for lunch. We will update the menu when we get closer to trip time. Registration includes transportation in a motor coach, tour, and lunch. Please note: Standing and walking is required.

St. Croix Luncheon Cruise

Our day will start with a luncheon cruise on the St. Croix. We'll enjoy a 2-hour cruise with lunch included. After the river cruise is done at 1:30, you'll have an hour to explore a bit of Hudson. You can do some quick shopping, find a sweet treat, or just sit and enjoy the river views. A buffet lunch will be served which includes a pulled Chicken Tinga sandwich, house-made cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, fresh fruit, Chef's choice hot entrée and dessert. A cash bar is available. Registration includes transportation in a motor coach, tickets and lunch. Please note: Standing and walking is required. MN Twins Game

Come out and cheer on our boys of summer, as the MN Twins take on the Seattle Mariners. Our seats are in section 204, along the first base line. We do have some accessible seats available, please let us know if you need to reserve an accessible seat. We plan to arrive around 11:15 am for the noon game, so you'll have some time to explore before the game begins. We will depart after 10 innings if the game runs long. Youth with an adult are welcome to attend. Registration includes transportation and game ticket. Please note: Standing and walking is required. Pepin Heights Apple Orchard and Nelsons Cheese Factory

The apple orchard is calling you! We will make our way down to Lake City where we will stop at Pepin Heights Apple Orchard. Pepin Hight’s is Minnesota’s Largest Apple grower and largest grower and distributor of Honeycrisp apples in the nation. In addition to Honeycrisp, Pepin Heights offer over a dozen different varieties of applies. While at the orchard we will have time to explore and shop for apple products and specialized gifts. After our orchard exploration we will head to lunch at Chickadee Cottage Café where we will enjoy Old Fashioned Chicken Salad with grapes, almonds and ring pasts in a delectable creamy dressing. Accompanied by colorful fresh fruit and homemade nut bread, a small dessert and beverage. We then venture over the river into Wisconsin, where we will make a stop at Nelsons Cheese Shop at the Nelson Cheese Factory. The founders of the Nelson Cheese Factory made cheese for 100 of years, while they no longer make cheese at the factory, their offerings have been expanded to include cheese form Wisconsin and around the world as well as find wines and gourmet selection of food. We will travel home through Wisconsin along the scenic Great Mississippi River Road through the small riverside villages. Weather permitting, we will make a few Scenic overlook stops.
