Special Events

  1. Bobbing for Pumpkins

Did you know that pumpkins float? Join us at the Rookery for this fun Fall event for all ages. We will have a pool full of pumpkins for picking!  After you pick your pumpkin our team will dry it off and prep it for our carving station. Costume too small, no longer a favorite character? Bring in your gently used costumes and swap it for something new to you.  More Fall fun will be available in the Gym, where you can enjoy our bounce house and games.

Swim Lessons | September - December
The Rookery offers swimming lessons that promote safe and effective swimming for all ages—from infants learning to love the water to advanced swimmers perfecting their strokes.

Sensational Slime Art Class | October 3 or October 10
We think slime is sensational! Once you’ve mixed up a batch of our fabulous fluffy slime then tried your hand at our special Bubblegum-scented silly putty slime, we’re sure you’ll think slime is sensational too! Sorry, grown-ups; this class is for KIDS ONLY!!! This class is taught by Kidcreate Studio.  Please pack a nut free snack and drink for your child.

Little Mess Maker’s Art Class| October 5 – October 26
Let’s get messy with Kidcreate Studio.  You and your little mess maker will have a blast in this hands-on class! We will enjoy many artistic, mess-making moments as they create marvelously messy masterpieces. We plan to paint, sculpt, scribble, and giggle our way to discovering mess making at its very best. These are not projects to tackle at home. Leave the mess with us! Come ready to get messy while you play right along with your child. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Date with a Dino Art Class | October 8
Tyrannosaurs Rex, Triceratops and Diplodocus . . . is your child dazzled by dinosaurs? This is your child’s chance to have a play date with a dino and create a fantastic work of dinosaur art. Kidscreate Studio will lead this terrific class. This is a great class for siblings to attend together! Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Crazy Randomness Non-School Day-Camp | October 20
Its Crazy Randomness day! Our day will be filled with crazy activities and games We will make fluffy slime and a mystery craft. We will play Robots Go Beep, Cats Corner, and Hula Hoop Free Tag. Oh, the Crazy Randomness will never stop! We will provide a morning and afternoon snack. Campers will need to bring their own bag lunch and a water bottle. Please dress to play outside, we will be walking to Woods Edge Park playground. Participants must be currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will only accept one pod friend request per camper and both campers must request each other for it to be granted.

Youth Pickleball League | October 27 – December 1
6 weeks of pickleball games for pairs of youth.

Swim, Jump and Play Non-School Day-Camp | October 21
It’s going to be one of those of swim, jump and play kind of days. We will enjoy some time swimming in the Rookery Pool and going down the waterslide. We will jump our way through the bounce house and we will play all sorts of large and small group games and walk down the path to the Woods Edge Park. We will provide a morning and afternoon snack. Campers will need to bring their own bag lunch, a water bottle and all of their swim gear. Please dress to play outside. Participants must be currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will only accept one pod friend request per camper and both campers must request each other for it to be granted.

Dodgeball Tournament | October 22 
One day Dodgeball tournament for middles schoolers. Teams of 5. $60/team.

Survive or Be Shipwrecked Non-School Day-Camp | November 7
Will you make it off the island? Teams will complete in challenges to earn immunity tokens which will allow them to choose which ice cream sundae toppings their team will be able to receive at afternoon snack. Each team will design their own team flag and make a survivor necklace. We will go swimming in the Rookery Aquatic Center and walk the path to Woods Edge Park. Will your team be survivors or will you all be shipwrecked for good? Campers will need to bring their own bag lunch, a water bottle, and swimming gear. A morning and afternoon snack will be provided. We will be walking the path to Woods Edge Park, so please dress to go outside. Participants must be currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will only accept one pod friend request per camper and both campers must request each other for it to be granted.

Let’s Draw Art Class | November 12 and 19
If it’s drawing, sketching, and cartooning you’re after, then this is the class for you! In this introductory drawing class which is taught by Kidcreate Studio, we’ll learn basic techniques and principles of drawing as we create puppies, ponies, people, and more. The kids will master a simple step-by-step method that is essential to creating memorable drawings. Each child will receive their own take-home How to Draw booklet! Please pack a nut free snack and drink for your child each day.

Tinkerbell and Her Fairy Friends | December 20 and December 21
If you believe in fairies, clap your hands, and come to this whimsical, glitter-filled camp! Your little fairy princess will create a fairy castle, a crown, fairy wings, a wand and more. She will even make her own Tooth Fairy box. With the help of Tinkerbell and her fairy friends, she is sure to experience the magic of art! This class is taught by Kidcreate Studio.  Please pack a nut free snack and drink for your child each day.  

Register by December 11.  

Monster Mania Non-School Day-Camp | December 27
MONSTERS ARE TAKING OVER!!! It’s a day of Monster Mania where we will play Monster Go Boo, Scrambled Monster and Will you Buy my Monster. We will make monster magnets and monster bead buddies. Come ready to attend the monster bash! We will walk the path to Woods Edge Park to play. Campers will need to bring their own bag lunch, a water bottle. A morning and afternoon snack will be provided. We will be going outside, so please bring all of your outside gear (boots, jacket, snow pants, hats and mittens). Participants must be currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will only accept one pod friend request per camper and both campers must request each other for it to be granted.  

Register by December 18.

Under The Stars Non-School Day-Camp | December 28

Start light, star bright how far away are you really out there?  Come play Flying Star, Attack of the asteroids and make a fun starry night squishy bags.  A pre-recorded video presentation from the MN Planetarium about stars will be shown.   We will also enjoy some time in the Rookery Aquatic Center swimming.  A morning and afternoon snack will be provided.  Campers will need to bring their own bag lunch, a water bottle and all of their swimming gear.  Participants must be currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade.   We will only accept one pod friend request per camper and both campers must request each other for it to be granted.   

Register by December 18.   

Sports of All Sorts Non-School Day-Camp | December 29
You won’t want to miss this full day of sports fun! Do you like basketball, we will play it. Do you like dodgeball, we will play it. Do you like pickleball, we will play it. Do you like kickball, we will play it. We will make a sports theme craft and will walk down the path to the Woods Edge Park. We will provide a morning and afternoon snack. Campers will need to bring their own bag lunch, a water bottle. We will be going outside, so please bring all of your outside gear (boots, jacket, snow pants, hats and mittens). Participants must be currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will only accept one pod friend request per camper and both campers must request each other for it to be granted.

Winter Wonders Non-School Day-Camp | December 30
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Winter can be wonderful so let have some fun! We will make a winter slime, play large and small group gym games and make a winter craft. We will be going into The Rookery Aquatic Center to enjoy some melted snow (swimming time). Campers will need to bring their own bag lunch, a water bottle and swim gear. A morning and afternoon snack will be provided. Participants must be currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will only accept one pod friend request per camper and both campers must request each other for it to be granted. 

Register by December 18.  

Winter Game Day Marathon Non-School Day-Camp | January 23 

Let the games begin!   We will play Snow Dodge Ball, Kickball, and Crab Soccer. Are you a master at Go Fish? We will have a Go Fish tournament and crown a Master Go Fisher!  We will walk down the path to the Woods Edge Park to play as well.  A morning and afternoon snack will be provided.   Campers will need to bring their own bag lunch, a water bottle.  We will be going outside, so please bring all of your outside gear (boots, jacket, snow pants, hats and mittens).  Participants must be currently in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We will only accept one pod friend request per camper and both campers must request each other for it to be granted.
